MANAGING DIRECTOR

Mat has been involved in the ownership, operation and management of former military aircraft since the early 1990’s and is the Managing Director of HHA. After university he pursued a management consulting and city-banking career, having worked for ( amongst others) Bain Strategic Consultants, Robert Fleming Investment Bank and Commerzbank. In 2000 he founded HHA as a standalone Defence Contractor and is responsible for the strategic direction of the company, overseeing all its activities including finance, marketing and corporate liaison. He is both an MAA and CAA approved Accountable Manager Post Holder.

Simon is HHA’s Operations Director. He spent 20 years in the Royal Navy as a Sea Harrier pilot, leaving in 1996 as Commanding Officer of 899 NAS. Simon completed ETPS in 1987 and, during his subsequent tour at Boscombe Down, was involved in the flight test programmes of Harrier, Jaguar and Tornado.

He joined BAES at Dunsfold as a company test pilot and quickly became involved in the Joint Strike Fighter programme, which took him out to Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to participate in the X-35 Concept Demonstrator Aircraft programme. Simon flew the X-35A and X-35C before performing the first flight and all subsequent envelope expansion flying on the X-35B STOVL aircraft.

On return to the UK he became DCTP at BAES Warton where he participated in the flight test programmes of Typhoon, Tornado, Harrier and Hawk. He has remained active in the Royal Navy Reserve Air Branch, initially flying Sea Harrier and now the Hawk with 736 NAS. He has 8,500 hrs on a large variety of types, including over 1,000 hrs on the Hunter.

He was awarded the GAPAN Derry and Richards Memorial Trophy in 2002 and, in 2004, the OBE for Services to Aviation.

In addition to his role as Ops Director, Simon is HHA’s MAA approved Flight Ops and Test & Evaluation Post Holder.

Barrie Ramsden heads up HHA’s MAOS activities. Having graduated from Engineering training at RAF Halton, Barrie’s had an extremely varied Military Career having been employed on many types of aircraft from the Vulcan, Victor, Tornado GR1/F3, Harrier GR9, Jaguar, F16, Nimrod MRA4, Typhoon and Hawk T1 on the Red Arrows reaching the rank of Warrant Officer. After 38 years RAF service he joined HHA in 2016 and became the Head of Maintenance. He is an MAA endorsed Form 4 Management Personnel Post Holder for Mil P 145 MAOS Maintenance Activities and Ground Operations Post Holder.


STUART GRANT

QUALITY MANAGER and HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER.


After serving 37 years as a Propulsion/Airframes engineer with the Royal Air Force Stuart joined HHA in Jan 2018 as the Quality Manager. He is responsible for coordinating the Organisation’s Quality Assurance (QA) activities, maintaining records of QA documentation and acting as the HHA’s QA focal point for all HHA Expositions and mandated Regulatory Articles.

In addition, he is HHA’s Health and Safety Manager and has primary responsibility for ensuring that the Organisation complies with the Defence policy for health, safety and Environmental Protection and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

He is an MAA endorsed Form 4 Management Post Holder Quality for Audit Management Functions and RA5850 DAOS Activities.


DAVID KEATING

DAVID KEATING

MIL AND CIVIL CONTINUING AIRWORTHINESS MANAGER (CAM) & AIR SAFETY MANAGER

Dave Keating is HHA’s Head of Airworthiness covering both the Continued and Continuing Airworthiness Manager roles. In addition, he is HHA’s Air Safety Manager responsible for the organisation’s Air Safety Management System (ASMS) and associated Hazard Logs.

Dave joined the RAF in 1982 as an Airframe Technician, before later undergoing Multiskilling training to include Propulsion trade training. He has extensive experience in a number of roles including instructional and Project Team duties covering a wide variety of aircraft from Jet Provost and Hawk Training aircraft up to the Sentinel R1.

He joined HHA in 2012 as the Quality Manager before transferring to his current roles in Feb 2016. He is an MAA endorsed Form 4 Management Personnel Post Holder for CAMO Continuing Airworthiness Management Activities.
